单词 | core inflation |
释义 | core inflation A measure of inflation of consumer prices excluding the prices of certain items. This may apply to food, whose prices are subject to seasonal fluctuations, fuel, whose prices are subject to large variations, for example because of actions by OPEC, and other seasonal or erratic items. The use of a measure of core inflation may assist in the production of better inflation forecasts. Core inflation is unlikely to be politically acceptable as a basis for indexation of pensions or other benefits, as consumers do in fact have to pay for food and fuel. |
