单词 | trade liberalization |
释义 | trade liberalization The process of reducing or removing restrictions on international trade. This may include the reduction or removal of tariff, abolition or enlargement of import quota, abolition of multiple exchange rates, and removal of requirements for administrative permits for imports or allocations of foreign exchange, or at least simplifying the process of applying for them. The main argument for trade liberalization is that exposing a country's economy to international competition makes for greater efficiency. Elaborate administrative control of trade is also believed to promote corruption in the government, and preoccupation with rent-seeking rather than productive efficiency in the private sector. |
