单词 | ceiling price |
释义 | ceiling price The highest permitted price of a good or service. If a government or other regulatory body sets out to prevent the price of a good from exceeding a ceiling price, this can be done in various ways. One is legal regulation, if this can be enforced. Another is market intervention, where the stabilization authority holds a buffer stock of the good and stands prepared to sell it in unlimited quantities at the ceiling price. This requires that the good is storable, and that a sufficient initial stock is held. It is also possible to intervene to attract suppliers and discourage demand for a good when its price rises towards the ceiling. |
