| 释义 | debt service The payments due under debt contracts. This includes payment of interest as it becomes due, and redemption payments. Where debt is long-dated, a large proportion of debt service consists of interest payments. Where debt is short-dated, most debt service consists of redemption payments. If an individual, firm or country has difficulty in servicing debt, the shorter-dated their debts are, the worse their problems. Debt service problems can thus be eased if creditors can be persuaded to convert short-dated into longer-term debt. |
