| 释义 | ratio The result of dividing one number by another. Ratios are widely used in economics to compare securities or institutions. A price-earnings (P/E) ratio, for example, is a share price divided by the earnings per share of a company; a reserve ratio is the amount of reserve assets held by a bank or other financial institution divided by its total liabilities. This allows meaningful comparisons of shares of different market values, or banks with different levels of total assets.
