释义 |
complementarity A relation between two goods or services in which a rise in the price of one decreases demand for the other. Complements are contrasted with substitute, when a rise in the relative price of either good increases demand for the other. Examples of pairs of goods which are complements would be ham and eggs, or car tyres and petrol. Any pair of goods can be either substitutes or complements; every good must have substitutes, but a good may have no complements. No good can be complementary to all other goods in the aggregate. |
