word processor word processor(WP) A computerized text-processing system consisting of a computer unit with a keyboard, display screen, printer, and hard disk. Modern word processors enable text to be justified and correctly hyphenated, a variety of fonts and typefaces to be used, tables and footnotes to be automatically generated, and graphics to be incorporated. Most word processors are now capable of producing documents that are equivalent in quality to a printed book. |
