单词 load
释义

load

load1. The cumulative amount of work assigned at any time to a work centre for processing in the future. loading1. The process of allocating jobs or orders to work centres within a production facility. If there is a range of jobs there could be a range of possible routes through the various work centres. Building up a profile of the load on each location enables approximate completion dates for each job to be estimated and bottlenecks in the system to be identified. Loading is based on average times and does not take into account job interference, etc. Forward loading begins with the present date and loads jobs forwards. Backward loading begins with the completion date and works backwards. Seefinite capacity loading; infinite capacity loading. load line One of a series of lines marked on the hull of a ship to show the extent to which the hull may be immersed in the water. Originally introduced by Samuel Plimsoll MP in 1874 and running right round the hull, the Plimsoll Line made a great contribution to safety at sea. The modern markings consist of a series of lines, usually painted on the hull amidships, applying to different conditions. The line marked TF applies to tropical fresh water, F fresh water, T tropical sea water, S summer sea water, W winter sea water and WNA winter in the North Atlantic. Shipowners and masters who allow vessels to be overloaded face heavy penalties.
