Ex post is contrasted with ex ante, which means looking at things before the event; that is, ex ante concerns people's plans. If what actually happens is correctly recorded, ex post figures for the economy must be consistent, whereas ex ante plans need not be consistent. If the economy were in equilibrium, the ex ante and ex post values of all variables would be equal. |
