单词 | discrete variable |
释义 | discrete variable A variable which can only take certain particular values, for example integers. This is contrasted with a continuous variable, which can take any value over some interval. Calculus is only applicable to continuous variables. Many economic variables are defined in money terms: money is strictly a discrete variable, but it is convenient for many purposes to treat money and monetary variables such as prices and incomes as though they were continuous. |
