单词 | depreciation, currency |
释义 | depreciation, currency A fall in the price of a currency in terms of other currencies. This makes a country's imports dearer relative to home-produced goods, which tends to decrease imports, and it makes exports cheaper abroad, which tends to increase exports. Currency depreciation is thus usually good for a country's balance of trade. Higher import prices tend to increase inflation, however, so the benefit to the balance of trade may not be permanent. |
