| 释义 | cross-subsidization The provision of a good or service at a loss, which is met by the supplier from profits made on other goods and services. Where the goods and services concerned have joint costs, or are complementary in demand, the extent of any cross-subsidy is very difficult to determine. Some economists argue that lack of transparency makes cross-subsidization likely to lead to inefficient decisions as to which goods and services should be subsidized. It is also argued that even where subsidies are justified, cross-subsidization may be an inequitable method of paying for them. |
