单词 | unearned income |
释义 | unearned income Personal income derived from property ownership rather than work. It thus consists of rent, dividends and interest. At one time the UK income tax system collected tax at higher rates on unearned than earned incomes: this could be justified on the argument that unearned income was from permanent sources, while workers needed to provide for their retirement. The distinction has since been abolished. |
