单词 | rational number |
释义 | rational number A number which can be expressed exactly as the ratio of two integers, that is, of two whole numbers: for example, 1.5 = 32. Many widely used numbers are not rational: for example, √2, π, and e, the base of natural logarithms. A non-rational or transcendental number cannot be evaluated exactly in any finite number of decimal places, or by recurring decimals. |
