offshore banking The practice of offering financial services in locations that have attractive tax or regulatory advantages to non-residents. Offshore banking centres are based in many European countries, e.g. France, Switzerland, the Isle of Man, and Jersey, as well as the Middle East, the Caribbean, and Asia.
