An affiliate of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) established in 1960 to provide assistance for poorer developing countries. With the IBRD it is known as the World Bank. It is funded by subscription and transfers from the net earnings of IBRD. The headquarters of the IDA are in Washington, with offices in Paris and Tokyo, administered by IBRD staff.
