Competition Commission A commission established in 1948 as the Monopolies and Restrictive Practices Commission, renamed the Monopolies and Mergers Commission in 1973, and given its present title in 1999 under the Competition Act 1998. It investigates questions referred to it on monopolies and mergers and its Appeals Tribunal hears appeals against decisions by the Office of Fair Trading and utility regulators relating to anticompetitive trade practices. |
