释义 | Board of Inland Revenue A small number of higher civil servants, known individually as Commissioners of Inland Revenue, responsible to the Treasury for the administration and collection of the principal direct taxes in the UK, but not the indirect VAT and excise duties. They are responsible for income tax, capital gains tax, corporation tax, inheritance tax, petroleum revenue tax, and stamp duties. Under the Taxes Management Act 1970, they are under a duty to appoint inspectors and collectors of taxes who, in turn, act under the direction of the board. They also advise on new legislation and prepare statistical information. |
