PARTICIPATING PREFERENCE SHARE
(Finance ) a type of share in a company that gives the owner the right to receive regular fixed payments (dividends) but does not usually give them the right to vote at meetings of shareholders. People who hold them must be paid before owners of all other shares: They plan to issue 500 million shares of common stock and 20 million shares of preferred stock. The company owes preference share holders about $200m. Banco do Brasil is to swap preferred shares for voting shares. The firm wants to convert 1.5 billion euros in preference shares into new shares.
