释义 | UK Payments Administration UK Payments Administration(UKPA) A body established in 2009 as successor to the Association for Payment Clearing Services (APACS), the organization set up by UK banks in 1985 to manage payment clearing and overseas money transmission. UKPA provides services and facilities to four main operating companies: Bacs (formerly Bankers’ Automated Clearing System), which is responsible for automated interbank clearing and settlement services in the UK, including direct debits and credits; Cheque and Credit Clearing Co. Ltd, which operates a bulk clearing system for cheques and other paper instruments; CHAPS Co, which provides high-value same-day electronic funds transfer in sterling and euros; and Faster Payments, a new service that enables customers to make express payments by phone or online. UKPA also works closely with the UK Cards Association, the body representing the card payments industry, and LINK, the network of UK cash machines.
