third-party debt order third-party debt order An order made by a judge on behalf of a judgment creditor restraining a third party (often a bank) from paying money to the judgment debtor until sanctioned to do so by the court. The order may also specify that the third party must pay a stated sum to the judgment creditor, or to the court, from the funds belonging to the judgment debtor. It was formerly called a garnishee order. |
