Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors

Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors(RICS) An institution, founded in 1868 and given a Royal Charter in 1881, that aims to provide education and training for surveyors and to define and control their professional conduct. Qualification as a Chartered Surveyor can be achieved by passing the Institution’s own examinations or through recognized academic or professional experience in the field. A Chartered member of RICS can use the initials MRICS after his or her name; after further experience he or she may apply for a Fellowship (FRICS). The Institution also has members who qualify by a more vocational route and use the initials TechRICS or AssocRICS.
