单词 | digital fingerprint |
释义 | digital fingerprintDefinitions 1. File security: Coded string of binary digits (generated by a mathematical algorithm) that uniquely identifies a data file. Used in detecting tampering of electronically transmitted messages, a digital fingerprint (just like the analog fingerprint of a person) cannot be reconstructed from any other digital fingerprint. It is because two files that differ even by a single character will have completely different digital fingerprints. A file's digital fingerprint (provided by service companies such as net Intelligence) is also used in blocking employee access to illicit material on the internet via the firm's computers. 2. Identification: Analog fingerprint of a person converted (digitized) into a binary file. By using a touch sensing device (such as a capacitance sensing scanner) an image of the fingerprint is captured. Then a computer program extracts the unique characteristics of the scanned image and stores them as the digital fingerprint of the person. This data file is compared electronically with the live reading of the person's finger placed on the touch sensing device to automatically confirm or deny entry or authorization. |
