Bond, share, or other security selling at a price higher than its par value is said to be selling at above par or 'at premium.' Bond prices are stated on a scale where the par value (whatever the amount) is assigned the number 100, and the premium is shown as a factor of 100. For example, a bond with a par value of $1,000 and priced at 110 is selling at $1,100. Also called at a premium or at premium.
