World Federation Of Stock Exchanges An international standards organization based in Paris that was developed to handle business policy issues that affect the various world stock exchanges. The committee handles the issues of cross border investing and is the platform used to settle the majority of the debates that arise from the issues that affect the investment industry.
Formerly known as the "Federation Internationale des Bourses de Valeurs", or "International Federation of Stock Exchanges" (FIBV). Investopedia Says: According to the Federation of World Exchanges, as of April 2007 membership consisted of a total of 55 exchanges from all over the world. Members together account for more than 97% of the world stock market capitalization and the combined size of the markets these exchanges operate is about $35,000 billion.
