| 释义 | Office of Fair Trading = OFT A government department that, under the Director General of Fair Trading, reviews commercial activities in the UK and aims to protect the consumer against unfair practices. Established in 1973, its responsibilities include the Fair Trading Act 1973, the Consumer Credit Act 1974, the Restrictive Trade Practices Act 1976, the Estate Agents Act 1979, the Competition Act 1980, the Control of Misleading Advertisements Regulations 1988, and the Broadcasting Act 1990. It is also the UK authority responsible for the application of the competition rules of the European Commission. Its five main areas of activity are: consumer affairs, consumer credit, monopolies and mergers, restrictive trade practices, and anti-competitive practices. |
