单词 | government broker |
释义 | government broker The stockbroker formerly appointed by the government to sell government securities on the London Stock Exchange, under the instructions of the Bank of England. The government broker was also the broker to the National Debt Commissioners (see national debt). Until October 1986 (see Big Bang) the government broker was traditionally the senior partner of Mullins & Co. Since then the Bank of England started its own gilt-edged dealing room and the functions formerly carried out by the government broker are now undertaken by the gilts primary dealers. |
