An approach to a referee can be in writing or by telephone and the referee should be given a brief job description of the job the applicant is trying to secure. 2) A person appointed by two arbitrators who cannot agree on the award to be made in a dispute to be settled by arbitration. The procedure for appointing a referee in these circumstances is usually laid down in the terms of arbitration. 3) A person or organization named on some bills of exchange as a referee (or reference) in case of need. If the bill is dishonoured its holder may take it to the referee for payment. |
