释义 | primary dealer 1) A dealer in government (gilt-edged) stocks; they have been established in London markets since the Big Bang in October 1986. They deal direct with the Bank of England, by whom they are supervised, and can bid for tap stocks when required, as well as having an obligation to maintain a market in all government stocks. There were 27 primary dealers in 1986, but only 21 in 1997. They have taken over the role of the government broker. They are also known as gilt-edged dealers. 2) See: |
