SIFIs SIFIs Acronym for systemically important financial institutions; those institutions, such as large banks, whose failure would jeopardize an entire financial system, whether national or international. SIFIs that are perceived as having a global importance are known as G-SIFIs. Following the global financial crisis of 2007–08, the UK Financial Stability Board sought to list and regulate the key attributes of such institutions. See alsotoo big to fail. |
