probate price probate price The price of shares or other securities used for inheritance-tax purposes on the death of the owner. The price is taken as either one quarter of the interval between the upper and lower quotations of the day on which the owner died added to the lower figure or as half way between the highest and lowest recorded bargains of the day, whichever is the lower. |
