Office for Budget Responsibility The independent economic forecasting watchdog established by HM Treasury in May 2010 to provide economic data and analysis for the UK government. Its main duties include producing twice-yearly economic forecasts; judging progress towards fiscal targets set by the government; analysing the long-term sustainability of public finances; and scrutiny of Treasury costings of Budget proposals.

Office for National Statistics(ONS) The UK government’s statistical unit, formed by a merger of the Central Statistical Office and the Office of Population Censuses and Surveys in 1996. It is an independent body responsible for collecting economic statistics for the government. Among its publications are Financial Statistics (monthly), Economic and Labour Market Review (monthly), UK National Accounts (the Blue Book; annually), UK Balance of Payments (the Pink Book; annually), and the Annual Abstract of Statistics.
