Institute and Faculty of Actuaries Institute and Faculty of Actuaries The professional body to which UK actuaries belong. It was formed in 2010 by a merger of the Institute of Actuaries, based in London, and the Edinburgh-based Faculty of Actuaries. The roots of the profession go back to 1756, when a Fellow of the Royal Society, James Dodson, produced the first table of premiums for life assurance, having been turned down for an assurance policy on the grounds of his age. |
