An Internet based marketing program primarily used to show the user banner ads on any Web site that happens to rotate ads regularly. Programs like these are generally far less expensive than individually placing ads on particular websites one at a time. For example, a Run of Site campaign is often used when a publisher is unable to gauge page loads ahead of time. Due to this fact, the publisher does not count on a fixed amount of advertiser spending, thereby causing the publisher to unload the inventory (page loads) at low prices. Another example of Run of Site inventory is sections of a newspaper site that do not receive many hits, such as job postings and obituaries, thus relegating these sections to Run of Site inventory.
