The company has branches across the globe and has been operating in the oil and gas business since 1919. Halliburton served as the parent company for KBR, but severed ties with the company in 2007. Former Vice President Dick Cheney served as CEO of the company and as a result it was speculated that because of its ties with Cheney, the company was awarded a number of governmental contracts.
