单词 | American wire gauge (AWG) |
释义 | American wire gauge (AWG)Definition US standard measure of the diameter of electricity conducting wires. Since it denotes the number of progressively narrower dies through which the wire is pulled through to reach a particular thinness, it is a backward working (retrogressive) numbering scheme: the thicker the wire, the lower the number and vice versa. AWG assigns numbers only to aluminum, copper, and other non-iron or non-steel (non-ferrous) wires. |
