单词 | oral will |
释义 | oral willDefinition A will whose terms and contents are verbally told to witnesses usually when the person is dying. To avoid dealing with cases of fraud and misunderstanding that often accompany oral wills, only a few states accept wills made in this way and several constraints have to be met. For example, witnesses may be required to submit a written copy to a probate court within a certain period and there may be a maximum limit on the value of the inheritance any person can receive. An oral will is generally acceptable in a probate court only when made by those in the armed forces during times of conflict. |
