1. Items in a set forming a chain, hierarchy, or sequence in which each member is contained in or contains the next.
2. Hollow articles of different sizes (such as boxes) packed such that the smaller article is placed (nested) in the next larger size. Or, where articles of the same size (such as buckets) are placed in one another such that no more than one-third of the internal article projects over the external article. Nested articles are charged different freight rates than the non-nested ones.
