单词 Miranda rule
释义

Miranda rule

Definition
US legal doctrine according to which confessions obtained by police are admissible only if the suspect was informed of his or her certain constitutional rights before being interrogated. These rights include (1) right to remain silent, (2) right to the presence of an attorney, and (3) right to have an attorney appointed by the State if the suspect cannot afford one. This rule results from the 1966 case of Miranda vs. State of Arizona. Also called Miranda warning.
