Definition
Concept that only scientific knowledge is the true knowledge of the world perceived through senses (the observable phenomenon). It is actually an extension of empiricism, and although it traces its roots to the UK philosopher Francis Bacon (1561-1626), it was popularized by the French philosopher Auguste Comte (1798-1857).
