Definitions
1. UK bill of 1689 that guaranteed certain rights to the citizens, such as the right to (1) petition the king without fear of prosecution, (2) raise any issue in the parliament without fear of being challenged in a court, (3) hold frequent sessions of parliament. It ended the concept of the divine rights of the monarchs, made them subject to the laws passed by the parliament, and made it unlawful for them to levy taxes, maintain an army, or make, modify, or suspend laws, without parliament's approval. It later served as a model for the US Bill of Rights.
2. First 10 amendments to the US constitution that instituted certain individual rights. These right were made inviolable by the 14th amendment of 1878 which forbade any (state or federal) government to "deprive any person of life, liberty or property without due process of law."
